Services in a Digital World: Leading, Innovating, Delivering
As the “”Digital by Default” agenda increases its reach across the public sector, IT teams need to prepare their organisations for the changes ahead. Challenging the perception that IT operates in isolation from the rest of the business is vital to successfully deliver digital services. What role will co-operation and co-creation play and how do you manage these potentially sensitive relationships effectively? Where are the opportunities for innovation? How should you prepare for the major programmes expected in 2014? Socitm 2013 offers you a unique opportunity to share your stories and learn from others’ experience.
After two great years in Birmingham, this year’s event moves to the Business Design Centre in London.
The event starts with an informal networking dinner on the Sunday evening. Held at the Thistle Barbican Hotel, our guest speaker is Jason Kitcat, Leader of Brighton & Hove Council. Jason will discuss how public sector organisations will work with voluntary and private sector partners. The evening also includes welcome drinks, dinner and a quiz.
Consisting of a series of presentations, panel discussions and interactive streams, the central focus for this year’s conference is ICT’s role in leading, innovating and delivering digital public services. Confirmed speakers include Mike Bracken, Executive Director at the Government Digital Service; Catherine Howe, one of the UK’s leading experts in digital technologies and social change; Gerry Pennell, Director of IT at the University of Manchester and former CIO for LOCOG; Dave Carter, Head of the Manchester Digital Development Agency; the Head of Media and Internal Communications at London Fire Brigade, Glenn Sebright; and Michael O’Toole, the Crown Representative for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector. Chairing the conference is leading technology journalist, Michael Cross.
Reflecting the importance of the topic, there will be a number of sessions covering PSN (Public Services Network), including a panel discussion on the morning of Tuesday 10 December, in which Jon Williams, PSN Programme Director, Cabinet Office, will participate.
On the Monday evening, we will be hosting our annual awards dinner at the Business Design Centre. Presented by comedian Dominic Holland, the awards showcase the successes in IT innovation, leadership and delivery across the public and third sectors. This black tie event is one of the highlights of the IT community’s calendar and is a great chance to dress up and catch up with colleagues in a formal environment.
The networking and awards dinners are included in the full delegate rate: individual tickets are available. Click Book Now for more details.
Socitm 2013 is the must-attend event for public and third-sector IT professionals and those working with them. We look forward to seeing you in London!
